The slender, upright from of the Golden Rocket Barberry make it the perfect choice for a smaller garden, or a restricted corner of a bigger one. This tough, reliable and easy-to-grow plant is covered in rich, chartreuse-yellow leaves from spring to fall, with no fading to green in summer. It is ideal for growing in a small shrub bed, reaching 4 to 5 feet tall, but staying just 1 or 2 feet wide. It can be used to make a slim hedge, and with its thorny stems it is a perfect colorful security barrier as a fence, or beneath windows. This tough, reliable plant grows well in urban conditions, and it is hardy to minus 30 degrees, growing almost anywhere in the country. If you have seen that there are problems with wild barberry in your local environment, don’t worry – this special form has few flowers, and it does not produce seeds, so it can ever spread. Enjoy vibrant color and protect your environment too.

  • Bright gold foliage from spring to fall
  • Slender upright form for smaller spaces
  • Thrives in hot sunny places
  • Easy-to-grow and trouble-free
  • Non-invasive form with no seed produced

Plant the Golden Rocket Barberry in a sunny place. It will grow well in any soil, except for ones that are constantly wet. Once established it is drought resistant too, so it needs almost no attention. With its narrow form it needs no pruning to control its size. Deer and rabbits leave it alone, pests and diseases don’t bother it, and once you plant it, and water regularly during the first year, you can sit back and enjoy the brilliant golden colors of its foliage through spring, summer and fall, and the vibrant coral colors of the stems in winter.
